Building strong foundations isn’t just about bricks and mortar – it’s about the people we support along the way. One person making an incredible difference is Simone Beddison, the first Community Award winner from Symal Group’s new reward and recognition program, Make Excellence Yours.

Since joining Sycle a year ago, Simone has loved every minute of her journey. She started as a Bookkeeper, was promoted to Finance Assistant within six months, and has been part of a growing, close-knit finance team ever since.

“Sycle has an amazing culture – it really feels like a big family. Not just here, but across the Symal Group too,” Simone shared.

Outside of Sycle, Simone dedicates her time to The Outpost, a Geelong-based organisation supporting people experiencing hardship with food, essentials and a welcoming place to connect with the community.

Simone joined The Outpost’s Board as Treasurer almost two years ago after moving from Melbourne to Geelong and feeling a strong pull to give back to her new community. What started as a few hours a week has grown into what she affectionately calls “almost a part-time job.” Her passion for supporting people and strengthening community connections shines through everything she does.

Simone’s humility and leadership inspired colleague and Payroll Officer, Fiona Stow, to nominate her for the Community Award.

“She’s inspiring. Simone doesn’t do what she does for thanks or gratitude – she just does it because it needs to be done,” said Fiona. “Recognising her was a special moment, and it’s a reminder of how important it is to take time to thank the people who make a real difference.”

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Simone for her outstanding contribution to her community, and for leading with kindness, initiative and heart – both within Sycle and across the Group.
